    Welcome to Enterprise Search!

Finally, Spring has arrived which means - trade show season! As you'll see, we're going to be speaking at several shows this Spring and early summer, and we'd invite you to visit us if you are at any of the shows we talk about in what's New.

This month Mark Bennett provides the second installment of his series on the differences between Internet and enterprise search, and why it's important to remember for those of us in the enterprise search side of the issue. We're happy to have an interview our Theresa Shafer did with Otis Gospodnetic, author of the popular Lucene in Action book. And finally, we present a brief introduction to search vendor Dieselpoint with a simple 'hello world' JSP program. Dr. Search fields a question on the Google appliance and robots.txt, but his answer provides insight into most search spiders; and we cover What's New in the enterprise search space.

    Table of Contents: April-May 2008

What's New - April 2008: Microsoft/FAST deal complete; ESS New York; Forrester Wave webinar; CMS publishes a new way to look at vendors; and our summer speaking schedule. [More]

Part 2: Internet versus Enterprise Search:: Last month, Mark provided 20+ Differences Between Internet vs. Enterprise Search - And Why You Should Care and this month he continues the series with even more differences, both obvious and subtle. [More]

An Interview with Otis Gospodnetic: Otis wrote the book on Lucene, and this month Theresa Shafer interviewed him about the book, open source search, and what he's been up to lately. [More]

Dieselpoint is an exciting search technology company with a pure Java solution, an easy to use interface, and excellent features, all in a easy-to-use package. This month we have a 'hello world' simple search app written for Dieselpoint. [More]

Dr. Search: Google can't find all my web content!: A reader reports that his Google search appliance works fine on most of his internal sites, but never returns any content from some sites. What's wrong? [More]
